Breakfast With Santa

We had a great time visiting with Santa at our neighborhood clubhouse this morning.  I love all the great events that our neighborhood puts together for the kids.  Brendan was a litle shy at first but he warmed up for a quick talk about his “choo choo train” that is at the top of his list this year.  Brielle made sure Santa knew about the “giant stuffy unicorn” at the top of her list.

2019 Santa Pictures

Our old pre-school Kids R Kids in Mableton used to partner with a local photographer to offer pictures with Santa. We had done it the last couple years and liked the event and pictures.  When we moved this summer, we knew we needed to find an alternative.  Brielle and Brendan both take swim lessons at Atlanta Swim and we discovered that they host a holiday party that features pictures with Santa. The best part is that they allow you to use your own camera!  As a photographer this was exactly what I was looking for.  When we arrived they even had LED light stands setup so no flash needed!

Brendan initially got scared and did not want to go see Santa but after watching big sister Brielle go up he built up some courage and did a complete 180.  We even got smiles and a handshake from him!

2019 Mt Bethel Fun Run

33rd Annual Mt. Bethel Elementary School Fun Run

Each year the Mt. Bethel PTA sponsors a fun run to raise money to support the school.  When Brielle heard about this she was excited to signup – her first official running race. As a former runner, I was happy to see and support her enthusiasm for running!

The event offers a 5k, 1Mile, and 1/2 mile (kindergarten) options:

The gun went off and it was a mad sprint!  We found some room to run and got into a steady pace. Brielle powered through the last two hundred yards to finish with a time of 4:15.7!Since they ran the boys and girls together it was hard to tell what place she came in but when they got to the awards they announced that Brielle got 4th place!

Moving Day to Hampton Lake in Marietta

We spent most of the week moving the smaller boxes to our new house but today is officially moving day! We hired Peachtree Movers to move all the big stuff and furniture.  It was a long day but we got it all done and now we just need to start unpacking everything!  Loving the new neighborhood and location so far.

Moving to East Cobb: 5102 Hampton Lake Drive Marietta Georgia

With Brielle going into Kindergarten this year, we knew that we wanted to move to East Cobb for the great public schools. We had been casually looking for the past couple years but at the end of 2018 we hired our realtor and got serious.

By this point we had already seen a lot of properties on our own and knew exactly what we were looking for.  The criteria we were looking for:

  1. Dickerson Middle School district (that feeds into Walton High School). All of the Dickerson feeder elementary schools have great reputations: Sope Creek, East Side, Mt. Bethel, and Timber Ridge
  2. 5+ bedrooms with a basement (same as our current house)
  3. Swim/Tennis community on a low traffic street or culdesac
  4. Great yard for the kids to run around in and play
  5. A screened in deck/porch would be a bonus

When this house came on the market we quickly made an offer (along with 3 others) but luckily our offer won and we went under contract.  The only downside to this house, was that the seller wanted to close on April 30th and then wanted a temporary occupancy through May as she had a graduating senior from Walton.  Not an ideal situation but  we were willing to make the compromise for this house.

We closed on April 30th as planned and then started working on selling 6101 Queens River Drive! We officially got the keys on May 22nd and started moving the boxes until the movers did all the furniture on June 1st.
